We decided to drive the coast from Oxnard to Monterey Bay. We were in no hurry and thought it might take an extra hour or so. We were so wrong! What should have taken 3 maybe 4 hours took 8 1/2 hours. The drive was absolutely beautiful but extremely long. We told the kids they could just play in the back of the car so they thought it was a great ride. 
It rained through most of the ride and was very overcast so we couldn't see any whales but we did stop and see the sea lions and elephant seals.

Rylan wanted to make sure Axtan saw everything. It was very cute. 
On the last day we were there, Rylan and Jordan went out on a boat whale watching. They were able to see a few humpback whales. 
They saw more sea lions and otters than whales.
