GIRLS CAMP (VACATION)

This year for Girls Camp (June 22nd - June 26th) our Stake Presidency asked each ward to do their own Girls Camp. Our wonderful Young Women's President came up with a great plan to take the girls to Salt Lake City.

We left Tuesday morning and we had a very busy week a head of us. We started by driving to Manti, for the wonderful MORMON MIRACLE PAGENT. We ate dinner at the church with the famous turkey dinner. After the pagent we slept in the dorms at Snow College. This night our 3rd and 1st years decided not to sleep. Needless to say we had some very sleepy girls AND LEADERS.

The Dorms!!!
Wednesday we headed for Salt Lake. He stopped and had lunch at Draper Park and there we heard all of the girls car songs. What creative and talented girls we have in our ward. Once lunch was over we went to Temple Square. I was amazed at how many girls had never been there. We were able to take the girls to see the Joseph Smith movie. I don't think the girls realized what Joseph Smith had truly gone through. There wasn't a dry eye in the theatre. From there we went to the Church History Museum for a scavenger hunt. Once that was complete we went to the Salt Lake City Cemetery. We started with a short talk about Mary Fielding Smith and then let the girls wonder until we met at President Hinkley's grave. After dinner we hiked Ensign Peak. I had never done that, and oh my, what a beautiful view of the city. Once on top of the mountain we had a few spiritual talks and then we showed the girls the Virtue banner we had made with each of the girls pictures on the temple. The banner turned out so good and the girls loved it. Thursday morning was when we were able to do baptisms for the dead, in the Salt Lake Temple. This was kind of my baby, I was asked to get the names together and make sure all went well. Once we got to the font I was asked to stand at the top of he font and hand towels to the girls as they came out from being baptized. I don't think there was a better seat in the house. What a beautiful thing it was to see each girl come out of the water, I swear they were shinning from the heavenly sky's. What radiant daughters of our Heavenly Father we had with us. After baptisms we had an opportunity to go the new Church History Library. This building is only about a year old now and they do not do tours there. We have a Sister in our ward serving a mission there and so we were able to take the girls in. They do not give tours there. We were able to see a lot of really cool things. A few things we were able to see was a first addition Book of Mormon, Wilford Woodruff's journal and my favorite was one of just twenty-seven original pages the Church has of the Book of Mormon from Joseph Smith's translations. The page we saw started with Oliver Cowdery writing and then in the middle of the verse it changes hand writing. They think to Emma Smith, but they are not sure. The verse that he is in the middle of is one of my favorite scriptures, 1 Nephi 3:7. After that tour we got to go have lunch in the Church office building. While eating some of the girls got to see Sis. Dibb's. Once lunch was over we went over to the Relief Society building. I had never been in there. We were able to go up to Sis. Beck's office and look around. We weren't able to see Sis. Beck, she was down at the Provo MTC, but we did get a tour from Sis Bradshaw, one of the wonderful women on the General Relief Society Board members. Thursday night we went to This is the Place. The girls got to take classes from the pioneers about dating, manners, and dancing. This was a great time for the girls.

Friday we went to Welfare Square and got to see how the church handles the welfare programs. I don't think the girls had any idea how much the church does for people. After that we went over to the Humanitarian center and sorted cloths for about 2 hours. I was very impressed how hard the girls worked. We then went up to the Granite Mountain's. What an amazing thing to see. We then kept going up the mountain to have a campfire, dinner and testimony meeting. What a wonderful group of girls we have. I was so impressed how beautiful these girls testimony's were.

SUMMER SWIMMING

Last year we spent a lot of time in the pool. This summer the weather hasn't been to warm and then when it did heat up I had girls camp, so this was our first outing to the pool. I am now hoping to be there a few times a week!!!

Yes, Paislee is swimming with her cast. It is amazing what modern technology has done for broken bones!!!

TOY STORY 3

Today I took the kids to see TOY STORY 3. I am leaving for girls camp tomorrow and wanted to take them before I left. It was so dang cute. It kept both of the kids attention through out the whole movie. When we got in the car Rylan let me know that we needed to head straight home. I didn't think much of it until I heard him upstairs. This is what I found:

I guess the movie really inspired him!!!

PAISLEE OH PAISLEE

Last Wednesday night Jordan was playing with the kids on the trampoline, like he does most evening, when Paislee landed wrong and started to scream. I was standing right there and as I watched her fall I truly thought she hurt her neck. She immediately grabbed her leg and was screaming. Me, not getting the mother of the year award yet again, gave her some Ibuprofen and put her to bed. The next morning when she woke up she was still in a lot of pain so we headed to Quick Care. Three hours later, it ended up being broken. She has a clean break right under her knee. Quick care put a hard splint on and set up an appointment to see an Ortho doctor on Monday. She was pretty excited because she wanted a pink cast. Luckily there was an option to pay a little bit extra and get a water proof cast. Therefore she does have to wear a cast for the next 4 weeks, but we can still go swimming!!!

The first layer of the cast

I'm sorry that I have been so far behind in blogging but.... I would like to say that we are all doing fine with the cast and life has gone back to normal, but that would be a lie. She is constantly wanting something and screaming as load as she can to let you now you are not coming fast enough. She has become even more bossy if that is even possible. If she is not yelling at someone she is asleep, which is not a good thing because she then does not sleep at night. Not to mention I swear she has to go to the bathroom every 15 minutes. Today she has learned that scooting on her but is a good thing, so I am hoping she will be a happier person soon. The doctor wants her walking on it as soon as she will, so I made her walk to the bathroom once today. That was quite a traumatic experience for her, but she made it! I love her dearly, but am so grateful that tonight is dinner out with the girls!!!

SCRIPTURE READING DOGS

Sunday when we left for dinner at my mom's our coffee table looked like this:

And when we returned home it looked like this:

Jordan and I looked around the house to make sure we hadn't had an uninvited visitor while we were gone. Sure enough we decided our dogs wanted to read the Scriptures!

MEMORIAL DAY FUN

This year we decided to stay home for Memorial Day. We had a great relaxing weekend and ended it by swimming over at my Aunt Peggy's.

My dad thought he was so funny sitting on the side of the pool shooting everyone with the water gun! Until he got pushed in!!!
